’28 Movies Later…’
Okay, so ’28 Days Later'may now be nine years old, but it is still one of my most favouritist Horror movies ever. When Danny Boyle created this masterpiece, he got everything in exactly the right place; ace photography, a superb story, an excellent cast and that music!!! Wow, it simply has to be one of the best soundtracks for any Horror film; ever! But when ’28 Days Later'was first released, I was actually a little bit hesitant about watching it at all… ‘Zombies that can run? What???? That’s just wrong!’ However, after I finally got around to watching it on DVD one night, I realised just how big a mistake I had made. This film was an absolute corker and the sprinting undead idea worked wonderfully (especially with the ‘fill-your-pants'camera-work; those brief flashes of cannibalistic nut-jobs really is scaaaary!!!).
Of course, we then had the inevitable sequel, ’28 Weeks Later’! And, although it was still very good, it didn’t quite have the same impact as the first movie had. Perhaps we were now all far more accustomed to the idea of ‘high-speed flesh-nippers'leaving us in need of cosmetic surgery! And now there is talk of a third film in the series (entitled, ’28 Months Later'which is no great surprise!). I just hope that Danny Boyle climbs back into the director’s chair for this one or it may turn the whole thing into a bland and repetitive franchise. Because there are more than enough of these in the world of Horror movies as it is!!!
